Lebanon High School Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Matt Carroll as the new Head Coach of the Lebanon Tigers girls wrestling program. A Georgia native, Coach Carroll grew up just outside of Atlanta and participated in a variety of sports before focusing on wrestling in high school. After finding success during his senior season, he continued his wrestling career at Darton State College (NJCAA) and Cumberland University (NAIA), where he became a three-time national qualifier. Following his collegiate career, Coach Carroll transitioned into coaching and teaching at McGavock High School in Tennessee. During his four years as an assistant wrestling coach, he primarily worked with the boys program while also helping develop the school’s growing girls wrestling program. During that time, he coached an athlete to two state championships and four state-place finishes. After moving to Indiana with his wife, Mackenzie, to be closer to family, he joined the Lebanon wrestling staff under Head Coach Jacob King, where he coached for two seasons. Although he eventually stepped away from coaching to spend more time with his family, he remained in education. This year marks his 10th year as a special education teacher. Coach Carroll and Mackenzie have two sons, Brooks (4) and Wells (3). He enjoys coaching their T-ball and soccer teams, and the family stays active together through biking, swimming, and other activities. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead this program and excited to get back into coaching,” said Carroll. “I look forward to working with our athletes, building this program, and having a great season.” “We are excited to welcome Coach Carroll back into the Lebanon wrestling family,” said Lebanon Athletic Director Chad Guest. “His wrestling background, previous coaching experience, and experience as an educator make him a great fit to lead our girls program. Most importantly, he understands the value of using athletics to develop young people, and we are excited about the direction of this program.” Coach Carroll is replacing Mike Gramlin, who was the Head Coach for the past 2 years.
